Mother of the Bride

Outfits & Etiquette

It seems that no matter what shape a mother of the bride is, she always asks if I can make her look tall, thin and gorgeous in her custom mother of the bride outfit.  And the answer is usually yes, yes and yes.

Mothers come to me at all stages of the wedding planning. Some come very early in the process, knowing what they want and asking me if I can do it, and of course I can — I've been doing custom designing bridal and mother of the bride or groom outfits since 1971.

If whatever you are asking for CAN be made, then I can make it for you AND, what's most important, I can make you look good in it, and you can have it for whenever you need it.

Are you having a hard time finding the grown or outfit for you part in the wedding? Can't find that right style in the department stores? If you are in Phoenix looking for a mother of the bride or groom outfit don't worry. Just come on into our store for a free design consultation and I will make sure you have exactly what you want to wear at this upcoming wedding. If you already have an outfit I would be more than happy to make any changes or alterations needed for you to feel comfortable and look fabulous at your son or daughters wedding.

Congratulations on this happy occasion! A milestone, a major accomplishment in the life of both the mother and the father of the bride.

Years ago, it was easier to find a nice formal outfit at the department stores, but that's just not the case anymore. Fashion has gotten more and more outrageous, and less and less traditional. And while that might be okay for a Charity Ball or a New Years Eve Party, it's just not an appropriate look for a mother of the bride. It's this shortage of conservative, classically styled, ready to wear outfits that causes so many headaches for so many women. Not everyone is able to visualize something that hasn't actually been made yet. This is not a shortcoming of theirs, it's just that people are different. Some are strong at visualizing things while others are strong at other skills. If you follow the traditional wedding etiquette, the mothers of the bride and groom are supposed to be the 2nd best-dressed women at the wedding, after the bride. They are to show their status. These two women should complement the color scheme that the bride has chosen and as a courtesy to the mother of the groom, the mother of the bride should inform her what color and what style she will be wearing, so that the mother of the groom can choose her own outfit accordingly. And remember, BOTH mothers are equally important.

For you it's the culmination of the love you had when you were younger, of the goals you set out to achieve together, and of the accomplishment of one of the most precious goals in all of life--the beginning of the process that brings you your grand children. And WOW, YOU did it! As the mother and father of the bride you took everything that life threw at you. You ate it up and spit it out, you brought a beautiful young baby from girlhood to blushing bride, and you did it together, and you did it with love. This may be your daughter's wedding day, but it's much more to you and your husband. It's a day you celebrate what your own love created so many years ago, and on a day like this, it's only natural for you to remind your husband how strong his desire for you was all those years ago. How do you do that? You find the perfect outfit, an outfit that breaks through the familiarity you've grown accustomed to with your husband, an outfit that sends him flashbacks of the times you had when you were younger. An outfit that projects to your guests the joy and happiness you are feeling as they celebrate your daughter's wedding with you. For this kind of moment, the outrageous styling from today's department stores simply won't do. For this special event, what's called for is the look of Classic Elegance. A look that consists of a little bit of romance, a little bit of formality, and a little bit of decorum. When you stand at the receiving line, you will project confidence and elegance. This is the style of mother of the bride outfits we've been creating in my shop since 1971, a style that will never go out of style. A style that says, WE did it, celebrate with us, but know this too--our life isn't over yet, not by a long shot. This is the style you should wear when you are the Mother of the Bride.

If you've found an outfit that you like but it doesn't fit, according to the Wedding Chronicle's Readers Poll, we are the best place to have your alterations done in phoenix. Whether the outfit is too big or too small, it's no problem. Whether you need something custom made, or just altered, "Yes We Can, Just Say When."
